No. 21: Portland Trail Blazers select Bismack Biyombo, PF, Congo.
The Blazers’ needs are at the center and point-guard positions. Greg Oden doesn t seem to be the answer and Andre Miller isn t getting any younger.
One solid answer at No. 21 would be Bismack Biyombo, from the Congo. One of the rawest talents in this year s draft has areas of his game you can t teach. At 6 9 , with a 7 7 wingspan and hops as well, he ll be able to block shots at the NBA level. Scoring and rebounding are major question marks. However, with the transition Serge Ibaka has already made for Oklahoma City as one of the most feared shot blockers in the game, Biyombo will get a shot.
Other possibilities include Lucas Noguiera, an 18-year-old center from Brazil. The 7-footer has a ton of potential but will need to add strength, to go along with his impressive physical tools, at the next level.
Another potential pick here could be Reggie Jackson, the! exciting point guard from Boston College. He brings good size for a point guard with excellent court vision, though he needs to improve at running an offense to succeed at the next level.
